A brief Report of ADD ON @Mavelikara District Seminar on Membership Development 10-8-2008

The newly formed District 3211 witnessed it’s first District Seminar in Mavelikara on 10-8-2008.The Rotary club of Mavelikara was hosting a District Seminar for the first time. Hence naturally all the members had real

trepidation about the outcome. But all thr members took it upon themselves as a challenge and strived hard to make it a success and we are happy to hear from majority of the delegates giving enthusiastic approval that it was a grand success.On behalf of all the members of our club I record our gratitude for their acclamation.

The proceedings started by 9 AM arousing all by the cheerful beats of the drummers of ‘Singari Melam’.

The venue was decorated, welcoming all by the enchantingunique’ Pookkalm ‘created by Rtn PP PHF Simon Francis .The stage arrangements were also are a feast to the eyesight ,thanks again to Rtn Simon Francis.

The procession started from the entrance of the hall to the accompaniment of R’Annets Ammu and Anjali singing Rotary Rhyme Vive La Vivela Rotary.Gov ernor Rtn MPHF George Mathew formally inaugurated the seminar by lighting the lamp.Organizing Committee Chairman Rtn PAG Dr S.Ramadas welcomed all ,introduced the chie guest Regional Rotary International Membership Development Co ordinator

Rtn PDG Rajesh Batra from New Delhi .In his welcome address he made brief introductory remarks about each topic to be discussed. Rtn MPHF Sasikumar ,the memtor and coordinator of the Seminar narrated the aim and significance of the Seminar. . Rtn PDG Rajesh Batra made a very informative and impressive speech on various strategies and techniques to be adopted in Membership Development. The audience filling and spilling out of the hall listened with gusto and rapt attention. Organizing Committee Chairman presented him with a memento. This was followed by speeches by Rtn PDG MPHF K.P.Ramachandran Nair on Retention of members,Rtn AG PHF Dr M.S.Abraham on problems faced by clubs ,Rtn Major Donor DGE Koshy Panicker on Quantity,Rtn DGN MPHF Scaria Jose on quality. To add spice to all these was a debate on hurdles faced by women in joining Rotary enumerated by R’Ann Vimala Abraham Past Inner Wheel Chair Person and solutions to these hurdles offered by Rtn PP PHF Sicily Antony this year’s Inner Wheel Chair person.

Rtn Governor George Mathew Governor and District Secretary General Dr Babu Chacko honoured the newly inducted members from various clubs by introducing

them and presenting them with Roses.The Assistant Governors of concerned zones were also recognised.We could publish a special two page supplement in Malayala Manorama on 10-8-2008.It contained a brief history of Rotary,Rtary in India and Rotary in Mavelikara.

The whole program came to an end by 1.35 PM and the seminar was adjourned for fellowship and lunch.
